Keeps You Connected

Our lives are almost entirely dependent on technology. We rely on it for everything from business to personal affairs. With all of the advancements happening at such a rapid pace, it is difficult to keep up with where we are going next. Developers are always trying to come up with new services or devices to try and entice consumers, but frankly, not all are entirely useful. Few have really impacted our lives or changed the way that we interacted within our world.

However, a handful of technological developments have actually enhanced our lives in a positive way. While the internet was certainly a revolutionary technology, wireless internet has been even more useful development. When the internet was first introduced, it was not a particularly efficient service, Since it relied on a dial-up modem that was connected to a phone line, it could take several attempts to connect to the web, and even once a connection was made, it would often cut out unexpectedly. Since it was slow and confusing to use, many potential users were scared off from attempting to incorporate it into their lives. They didn't see how it could ultimately help them, and so it took a few years before internet usage became pervasive in our society.

Developers worked diligently to deal with the faults of the internet, and soon, wireless technology emerged. With wireless, users could place one modem in their home or office, and get internet access from anywhere in the vicinity. This meant they no longer had to deal with annoying chords or cables, and could instead move about with freedom while still surfing the web. Wireless service is now the predominant way that people access the internet, and it has made the entire service that much more accessible and user friendly.

Now, thanks to the development of technologies like the mobile air card, people can access the internet from practically any location. It used to be that you had to find a café or restaurant that had WiFi access in order to surf the web. Now, you can access the internet while you're on the go: in a taxicab, while waiting for a bus, even on an airplane. The new 4G technology means that you can essentially bring your own wireless network with you, and are no longer held back by a lack of access or service.

As a result of this technology, more and more people are investing in mobile devices like smartphones or personal computers that are small enough to carry with you on a daily basis. This ability to access the internet anytime, anywhere, keeps you on top of your work, personal affairs and the world around you. When you are away from home, you can easily stay in touch with friends and family, and while on vacation or traveling abroad you can still be in touch with your office back home and stay up on work. Never being disconnected means that you can keep up in a fast paced world, and that is an incredibly important ability that should be valued.

WiMax Wireless Internet

As the American South continues to grow and prosper, the technology and infrastructure that serves the majority of inhabitants will begin to radically change. Basic, functional, services may be fine for the masses, but in order to get ahead and stay ahead in the worlds of finance, business, and global corporations, there is a need to boost the infrastructure available when it comes to technology, electronics, and communications. In many countries, connectivity is a top priority, but in the United States connectivity, especially by high speed internet, has fallen by the wayside. A short trip outside the majority of metropolitan areas finds one right back in the early 90s with little more than dial-up internet to connect by. A perfect example is the city of Atlanta, Georgia. Surrounded by large tracts of rural and remote setting, Atlanta is emerging as one of the fastest growing urban centers in the country, and must find a way to keep up with itself in terms of infrastructure. As the headquarters of many large multinational corporations, continued growth should be expected. One way that Georgians state-wide are looking to improve connectivity is with improved, easily installed, high speed internet providers.

The internet connectivity of the future seems to be pointing in several directions, but the option coming out ahead in many global communities is that of WiMax internet. It is appealing for many reasons, amongst them the fact that the infrastructure and construction required is extremely basic. With little more than the construction required for a cell phone tower users within a radius of 30 to 50 miles can draw fully functional, high speed, entirely wireless internet right from the air. This means that spreading from urban centers out, places that could never dream that cable or DSL internet service would ever reach can now get online at broadband speeds. The other most important feature of WiMax internet, is that it employs 4G or 4th Generation mobile broadband technology to give users a fully transportable internet connection. To give an idea, 3G internet is what is available today on most mobile phones, PDA devices, and via the iPhone. It is convenient and practical to use when on the move, or away from a desktop computer or laptop with a Wi-Fi connection, however, when it comes to using the internet for practical applications like sending or receiving large files, downloading materials or media, and more, 3G technology falls far short of the mark. With 4G technology's mobile broadband abilities and speed, anything that can be done from a desktop computer with a high speed internet connection can be accomplished on the road, literally. With WiMax it is possible to use the internet not only from anywhere with a signal, but while moving as well. For citizens of Atlanta with the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the busiest in the world, being on the move is the norm. Imagine getting all your last minute professional tasks completed in the car on the way to the airport, or while sitting waiting for a plane, without paying to access a Wi-Fi network, and you are already dreaming of a world connected by WiMax internet.

Modern Mobility

The importance of mobility just can't be stressed enough in our modern society, where the person that can get the most done in life is always going to be the person that has got dynamic communications solutions everywhere they go. Beyond just phone services we're talking about mobile web services-after all, when an internet service is robust enough it can entirely eclipse telephone services in all regards, as is being proven in the case of 4G mobile internet. The latest generation of mobile web standards to hit the market, fourth generation mobile is changing the way that we define mobility and it is making life a whole lot more productive people that know how to harness the unimaginable power of such services. With fourth generation networks being deployed in cities and even in suburbs and some rural communities all across the United States and with very aggressive development plans for the coming years, a majority of the population has or soon will have the chance to experience the power of 4G in their own hands and finally understand what modern mobility is really all about.

Mobile internet is no longer just about being able to look over one's email account and send a few simple messages back and forth, or simply surfing the web and even then only being able to see pages well when they are light on multimedia content or anything that requires advanced browser capabilities. That is what mobile internet was about; these days, with 4G mobile in people's hands, mobility is taking on a whole new meaning. Now it is possible to basically do whatever you please with your mobile internet service and device-the limits are way beyond your imagination! From surfing all the pages you want no matter what graphics they use to being able to download plenty of heavy files, you can also use some phenomenal apps that up till recently you would have only seen installed on laptops or desktop computers, not on a mobile device.

One perfect example: multi-person video conferencing. This is one of the ways that 4G technology is changing the definition of mobility in our modern world. Thanks to the incredibly fast speeds of fourth generation networks, you can have a video conference call with your boss and with various other people in locations all across the country or even across the planet as if you were using your cable connection at your office desk. Other apps also included in 4G devices also include video and voice capabilities and they are making it increasingly possible to fulfill all sorts of obligations even when you are not seated at your desk.

It's not that hard to imagine that these perks will have serious consequences in the lives of all sorts of different people. From traveling businesspersons to university students to stay-at-home moms and dads, everybody stands to gain from having access to the very latest in mobile communications.

4G Mobile Internet

Mobility: it's a virtue which we have been systematically taught to treasure for longer than any of us can even remember, and which harkens back to the very beginning of the modern era of human civilization. We are taught to learn how to be more mobile from our youngest days, and the importance of mobility never ceases to be hammered into our heads throughout the rest of our lives. Due to recent developments (i.e. the last 10 or 20 years) in the job market and even more recent developments in the economy, mobility from a professional point of view has become more than a virtue-it has become a necessity in the absence of which we might very well find ourselves without a job! Given these circumstances it is not all that surprising (though it certainly is encouraging) to see just how much of a warm welcome the latest generation of mobile internet, 4G, has received from the general public since being launched a little while back. As fourth generation users are discovering rather quickly, such dynamic mobile services allow people to live their lives to a fuller extent and to be a whole lot more productive in anything and everything they do. Let's take a look at some of the ways in which 4G wireless is impacting the way we work and play:

• For starters, there is the impact of the sheer coverage area which fourth generation networks include. The effect here is tremendous as never before has mobile internet been able to reach so grand an area, much less with perfectly intense signal quality! What this means is that mobile users are finally able to stay connected to the web as they make their way throughout their city: on the bus, the metro, in the car, in the cab, etc. The possibility to do a little extra work (or a lot of work) outside the office is much greater now than ever before, and it is helping modern professionals fulfill their obligations in a more timely fashion and make more time for their personal lives (or for more work, if they're workaholics like that).

• Furthermore, the impact of the download speeds of 4G wireless is quite significant and is boosting productivity as well. Slow mobile connections can create more frustration and difficulty rather than actually being of help, and this is where fourth generation mobile stands apart from other mobile services. With download speeds ranging between 5 and 10 Mbps in many cases, fourth generation mobile allows users ridiculously fast downloads and communications. What this does is it opens up the possibility for much more sophisticated mobile apps, and now rather than just being able to check email messages and surf light websites mobile users can download massive files, engage in voice/video VoIP calls and do a whole lot more...all of which boosts productivity tremendously and solidifies the 4G reputation.

Why 4G Wireless

In our modern day and age, people need a web access service that meets all of their needs and brings them the most versatility possible. A major factor that people are looking for in their web service these days is not having to be pegged to the desktop computer: they want to be able to move around, and indeed our culture in general is placing an increasing amount of priority on the issue of mobility. Soon we will very aptly be able to be described as a mobile culture, and it is in light of this reality that 4G wireless web services are gaining more and more stature among web users that know the importance of moving around and want to make the most of their ability to do so. Constituting the very latest generation of mobile internet, fourth generation services are all the rave throughout the US and in many other parts of the world where folks have the same urgency to be as mobile as possible. It's an exciting moment for mobile fans and here, to honor the moment, we've put together a list of the two principal motives for why 4G internet is a right fit for any and all web users:

1) The speeds of the office or home internet connection. One thing many people assume their mobile connection will do is force them to accept lower download speeds, yet this is just simply not the case with 4G wireless. Developers have attained download speeds of more than 100 Mbps in the lab over fourth generation networks, and though that's not what people get out on the street in real world circumstances they still get roughly the same as they would on their home or office internet connection or even more at times. A typical fourth generation connection can bring download rates climbing up to 10 Mbps and from here to the very near future that figure is likely to grow considerably, making fourth generation wireless networks a hugely attractive option for just about everyone.

2) All the apps in the world. Thanks in large part to the fact that the connections are so fast over 4G networks, users of such networks are able to experience a much wider universe of mobile apps than with previous generation networks. Of course, the developers of fourth generation mobile apps (you've got to get a new app to surf on such networks than the one you used for 3G access) knew that this would be the case and went absolutely nuts on the apps end of things from the very start, so such mobile devices are guaranteed to have plenty apps-ability no matter what. You will feel like you are seated at your desktop computer given the kinds of applications you'll be using on such 4G mobile devices: VoIP with video in real time, vehicle tracking and map information, customer support apps and a whole lot more.

Rural Wireless Internet Solution

Rural internet access presents problems that more urban computer users can only dream about, in nightmares that is. I have struggled for years using only a dial-up connection and struggle it was. But no longer, since this little box has moved into the house.

Believe it or not, there are still quite a few locales where only dial-up is available rather than DSL or cable. And in some places like where I live the telephone equipment leaves much to be desired too. Rain causes the lines to do all kinds of things.

So the only options are either a satellite service which is a popular option or a system using one of the cell phone companies. Verizon works well here so that was the choice.

What I chose was the Verizon Wireless MiFi2200 receiver. This little card, which is what it looks like, not only can receive without wires, it also can transmit without wires too. In fact, it can work with up to 5 devices at a time. It's just like having your own hot spot right at home.

It comes with a plug in charger and will also operate on the internal battery. In addition, you can plug it to the computer using a USB cable to operate off the computer power. That seems to be a different connection based on the information displayed on the computer.

Verizon supplies a software download which serves as a dashboard for managing the wireless system. The software lets you track usage as well as access statistics about the connection.

So far service has been satisfactory, with usually a strong indicated signal. Speed is perceived as very fast at times and not as fast at others.

I did almost immediately have a battery charger problem and contacted Verizon by phone. The lady who helped me was very cordial. I decided to take the unit to a local Verizon store for repair or replacement. The problem was quickly identified and fixed.

This little Verizon wireless box has made rural internet much more usable for this heavy computer user. Productivity with the computer has soared.

Mobile Broadband

Mobile broadband is the newest feature of modern gadgets. Till now, we were familiar with the concept of wired broadband internet. This internet is provided on landline phones connected through the wires. The wired internet is always engulfed with the common communication problems like default in the phone lines and theft of telephone cables. But the evolution in the internet technology has completely changed the networking field. New cellphones that are being rolled out by the mobile brand like Nokia, Samsung etc. are capable of providing wireless internet access of the web pages. The modern connectivity applications of the gadgets are therefore superior to the traditional connectivity tools. First, they are not based on the phone wires or cables. Second, they provide net browsing & downloading on the mobiles with high speed.

Mobile broadband has reduced the dependence of the people on the traditional dial up and wired broadband connections. People before the arrival of the broadband connectivity used to view the web pages through the low speed GPRS and EDGE technologies of the handsets. The high speed connectivity tools available on the new gadgets are HSDPA, HSUPA and Wi-Fi. These tools provide the surfing speeds in terms of mega bits per second, which is fairly good.

To access the high speed net browsing on the cellphone, individuals should search for the various broadband surfing plans available in the market. The broadband internet plans on the handsets are provided by the mobile network providers. People residing in the UK region, may find many attractive networking plans from the service providers like T-mobile, Orange, Vodafone etc. Market is flooded with the several cheap wireless broadband deals during the festive seasons. Mobile service companies offer two types of connection plans i.e., home and commercial plans. These cheap offers include free internet usage for the specified periods, cash backs, concessional monthly phone bills etc. Individuals may grab the free offer plans of the mobile companies during the festive times. Best mobile internet plans can be found on many mobile websites. A person may compare the various cheap plans on the mobile site and get the cheap broadband deal carrying the most attractive gifts.

To access the mobile broadband internet on the computer, one will need the USB modem or USB data cable. Individual may either purchase this device or get it free of costs with a cheap handset deal. Mobile brands in the recent years have unveiled several sophisticated gadgets that are comparable with the computers in terms of browser, operating system and memory supports. These gadgets with the broadband connections allow the handset users to open the flash based and high encrypted pages. Many websites of this category are not viewable with the ordinary mobile GPRS or dial up internet of the wired phones. Thus, with this mobile feature, every online search becomes quite easier for the handset users. People can also finish their file downloads in less time with the enhanced browsing speed. However, individual should purchase the broadband plan suiting his/her surfing and downloading requirements.

Apple iPad Preview

The long awaited Apple tablet has finally been revealed. Steve Jobs pulled the wraps off on January 27th in a tense morning for Apple and tech fans all over the world. Now with the specifications and information out there it's time to preview the iPad and its potential.

First of all the design is pretty spectacular. The front is dominated by the large 9.7" LCD Led lit display that without a doubt will look great. Just below the screen you get the iPhone home button that allows you to go back to the beginning at all times. One less pretty feature for me are the black borders around the screen. They are a bit too wide for my taste, it would've been better if Apple was able to stretch the display a little and remove the borders. On the top you get the sleep button that will deactivate the display. On the right side you get the volume buttons and the silence switch, interesting is that the buttons have been moved from left (iPhone) to the right. On the back you get the large black Apple logo in the middle of a big gray (aluminum?) mass. It also says iPad on the back, the number of GBs and a few FCC things that are required to be there I think. It's not impossible to assume that the new iPhone will feature a similar back. The tablet is really thin, in fact it's just 0.5 inch thick, that's as thick as an iPhone. Height and width measures come in at: 9.6 inches and 7.47 inch.

Now lets talk about the software of the iPad. It works very similar to an iPhone. Slide to unlock and you're in the main screen with the typical iPhone icons. You get: YouTube, mail, Safari, contacts, iPod, iTunes, app store, video, settings, maps (by Google!), calendar, photos and last but not least notes.

The apps have been modified a bit for the new capabilities though. For example photos are now arranged by event blocks. Tapping on a block of photos will show you a preview of the photos in that event (or map for windows users). However you can also view your most treasured memories by list, location, faces or date. We can imagine that it will look really fantastic to manipulate the photographs on a huge touchscreen and to show it to your friends.

Another app Steve Jobs showed extensively was the Safari app. The browsing experience exceeds the desktop experience because you can touch and flick through the pages. And unlike the iPhone you now see the full webpages.

The App store will transform this device into things Apple alone could never achieve. You can run all the iPhone applications on it in either full screen or 1:1, the latter being the actual resolution we're used to from out favorite smartphone. But in addition to running the iPhone apps, the iPad will also get its own apps. Developers can create programs for it and utilize its full potential. The things we've seen in the keynote, including software from EA, looked okay but not very impressive. In a few months some amazing piece of codes will come out for the tablet we're sure.

I have taken everything into consideration and a few things bug me as of now. Firstly does the iPad have flash support? The tablet is suppose to deliver the best browsing experience ever, but flash is a big part of the experience.

Another thing is the hardware. Apart from the case and the touchscreen things aren't looking good on paper. It has a quadcore 1ghz processor built in from Apple, a company not specialized in these chips. I have fears that this A4 processor might not be fast enough for the really interesting apps. Another downer is the lack of iSight camera. This thing would have been amazing for conferencing or instant messaging, an opportunity missed there. Other hardware figures are a mystery. Like how quick is the graphics chip? And how much system memory does it have to work with?

And last but not least I'm having a hard time giving the software my two thumbs up. I think it looks to much like the iPhone software. The iPad would have been a much stronger product if the software allowed some advanced things like video editing or the ability to access and store files in finder windows (or maps for windows users).

To conclude. The iPad looks amazing and with a price of €499 it will sell really well. But much like the first iPhone launch the iPad has some obvious shortcomings. It isn't really fast, has no webcam and on top of that the software is lacking premium computing features. With that said I might still get one if the experience is as amazing as Steve Jobs expressed during his presentation. Which knowing Apple will probably be the case.

Cheap Laptop Computers

It is 2010 and this year seems to be so promising when it comes to technological innovation especially in the world of laptop computers. Thus, you cannot expect an under-qualified laptop nowadays. In fact, there are a lot of commotions about every computer company to release their new models by the end of January or early February of 2010.

Therefore, if you are planning to purchase one laptop computer for yourself, there are some things and specifications that you should look into to ensure that you will get the superb and powerful laptop computer ever. Check out these simple things you need to know;

The Brand

If you are a brand-conscious person, you will know exactly what you are looking for by just the name. The good thing about having you preferred brand is that you can be sure that what you want to buy is of high quality. Of course, there are other laptops which bear the name of any famous brands, but at least, if you know the brand so well you will immediately know that they are imitations.

The Processors

It is the year 2010 and computer processors are not the same as in the year 2000. Since the release of Pentium processors, there had been a sudden change in the infrastructure of computers. Intel has been so brilliant in keeping up the pace of competition when it comes to having the most powerful processors. So, when you buy a laptop, be sure to get one with Core 2 Duo processors.

The RAM

Random Access Memory (RAM) is responsible for supplementing your laptop computer more power. The fact is, if you have really good processors you must pair them with really high RAM. That is why, all laptops has the minimum RAM of 2GB. But you can expect to have it upgraded to 8GB if you desire so.

The Hard Drive

Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is almost one of the most import parts of a laptop computer. Minimum capacity of HD last year is 120 to 240 GB. This year, you can expect to receive 320GB of Hard Drive, at least. The good thing is, if you think 320GB is not enough, you can always upgrade it to 500GB or even up to 1TB.

Other Components

A laptop computer must be complete. So, these are the components you can also expect if you buy one for yourself;
• High Resolution Graphics
• High Fidelity (Hi-Fi) Sounds
• Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) Capability
• CD/DVD Burner/Writer
• 4 USB & 2 SD slots

Of course, you don't want to buy just a laptop; you always want to purchase the best laptop computer which best suit your needs and interest. So, look closely into these specifications before taking out the money from your pocket.

Laptop Cases Over Other Bags?

Laptop cases are important to keeping your laptop safe and easy to carry. They have also become a fashion statement over the last decade. You can tell how much someone appreciates their machine by the quality of the case or bag that they buy for it. But during trips a bag or case can become troublesome and in the way.

Many people have asked for a solution to this problem and companies answered with rolling laptop cases. These cases are very similar to rolling suitcases just not as large most of the time. They come in various shapes, forms, materials, and colors so they can fit your preferences and needs. They also come in a variety of configurations depending on what you need them to do.

The most common form of rolling laptop cases is very similar to a rolling suitcase. You put your machine in, zip it up, and then roll it out. The reason you would want one of these is the same reason you want a rolling suitcase. During trips that require a lot of luggage it leaves you with less to carry and makes things easier.

Rolling laptop cases have become commonplace at airports around the world as more and more business people are upgrading their desktops to laptops or netbooks. That being said the size of these cases and bags differ greatly. Some of them are meant for small machines and some of them are meant for large machines. Essentially the same rules that apply for standard cases apply here.

Universal rolling laptop cases are a bit of a newcomer to the scene and these are meant to fit pre existing bags. Essentially they are just a platform to secure your bag or case to in order to make it rolling capable. The technology isn't anything more advanced than some wheels, a handle, and a board for sitting. These are the cheapest of the type given the nature of the product but they get the job done.

Specifically designed rolling laptop cases may have a matching bag or case in addition to the platform. Obviously they will cost more and that cost is dependent on the quality. Remember you do get what you pay for in regards to any product but especially laptop cases. You wouldn't think it would be hard to mess something like this up but you'd be surprised how many corners cheap manufacturers will cut.

Finding a good quality product is important especially when it's doing something as important as carrying your laptop around. Your computer is important to your life and you can ill afford to lose or misplace it. Most feature a collapsible or fold out handle for easy storage when in flight or in the car making them very portable. Larger models might be a bit harder to handle than smaller ones but this is hardly a complaint against the bag type.

Although a carrying case or bag isn't essential to your laptop it can help immensely. Some buy them to show that they love their machines while others buy them to show that they are in style. Regardless of why you chose to buy one you are still left with the choice of which one to get. This is a decision that you alone have to make based on your own personal tastes.

Dell XPS M1530

Coming from an old player in the laptop game, there are several things that a buyer can look forward to from the Dell XPS M1530.

For years, it has been the complaint of several buyers of Dell laptops that the units are quite thick as well as heavy. The Dell XPS M1530, however, is decidedly different from its older cousins. For the first time, Dell released a model in 2007 that is sleek, thin and light. When users complained that Dell laptops have very small screens, Dell then released the XPS M1530, which has a larger screen.

Specifications:

CPU: 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7500
Memory: 2GB DDR2-667 SDRAM
Hard Drive: 160GB 5400 RPM SATA HDD
Display: 15.4-inch WXGA (1280 x 800) CCFL glossy screen
Optical Drive: Slot-loading dual-layer DVD±RW drive
Video Drive: NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M GT with 256MB GDDR3
Webcam: Integrated 2.0 megapixel webcam
Security Hardwaer: Fingerprint Reader
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium
Wireless: Ethernet, 802.11a/g/n
Bluetooth: Bluetooth 2.0
Battery: 6-cell or 9-cell
USB Ports: 3
Card Slot: 8-1 card reader; ExpressCard

The XPS M1530 features a soft-touch finish for its chassis. What's wonderful is that it allows the buyer to choose from three different colors for its finish. Choices include Tuxedo Black, Alphine White or Crimson Red. Dell has decided to turn from the norm and not overload this machine with flashy designs and, as a result, it only has the soft-touch finish to boast of aesthetically.

Like mentioned earlier, Dell has made this notebook amazingly light: something it has not done with past models. The Dell XPS M1530 weighs an impressive 2.6 screen even if it has a sizable 15.4-inch LCD screen. This is ideal for businessmen and mobile computer users.

The Dell XPS M1530 is made up of strong and high quality materials which include steel, magnesium and aluminum. This would mean that the XPS M1530 is strong, durable and is able to resist the effects of wear and tear for a period of time.

The Dell XPS M1530 also comes with an impressive keyboard. All keys are full-sized, thus giving your fingers ample space and making usage comfortable for you. They are also soft and very responsive. The keyboard is complemented by an equally comfortable and sensitive touchpad.

One thing that can turn you off from the M1530, however, is its mediocre sound system. Placed on top of the keyboards, it is not supported by a subwoofer thus limiting the amount of bass that they can output. This will certainly ruin your audio experience.

While it certainly does have a good video card, it is far from being powerful. The NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M installed on its motherboard only has a video memory of 256 MB, certainly not enough for heavy gaming. Typical games that demand little in video memory and processing power would be enough, as it's certainly up to the task. However, hardcore gaming is not a part of this machine's forte. Games like Crysis and Need for Speed's Pro Street are only rendered at very low frame rates, thereby greatly affecting the video and detail quality. So, if you're a hardcore gamer, the M1530 is not the one for you.

All in all, aside from the sound issues and the low frame rates for the later games, the XPS M1530 is an excellent machine. In fact, people consider it as the next step after the M1330, an earlier model which did well on its own right. Despite the high price tag, the XPS M1530 is still a good buy with its powerful features, design and ergonomic features.

You Stay Connected

The Internet has come a long way since its inception. When it first appeared, the worldwide web was little more than a few web pages. Today, there are literally billions. We are so used to the Internet that many of us wonder how we every lived without it. It helps us with every facet of our lives. At work, it helps us send information, quickly, easily and effortlessly. When we want to unwind, we can use it to plan a vacation or chat with friends. Every day, there is a new use. As the Internet has advanced, so too have the means of getting and using it.

At the start, we all had dial-up modems. These early modems were slow and unreliable, but still better than nothing. They brought the Internet into our homes and provided us with an incredible luxury.

Cable modems and later high-speed cable modems followed dial-up. These modems were far superior to dial-up in two ways. First, because they worked with cable and not telephone lines, they didn't interfere with our making or receiving calls. Second, they were much more reliable and much faster. The only downside of cable technology was that it was static. We could take advantage of this technology in our homes, offices, or cyber cafés, but not outside of these places.

To increase mobility, wireless Internet was invented. With this incredible technology, as long as we had wireless cards and routers, we could move about our homes and offices and stay connected to the Internet. Furthermore, this wireless breakthrough allowed us to carry the Internet with us wherever we went. We could access the Internet in any place that had a wireless router.

However, even with the incredible advantages that wireless offered, it too had limitations. For instance, if you desperately needed to use the Internet but were away from your home and office and there was no room in a café that had a wireless router, how were you supposed to connect? A few years ago, they answer was: you couldn't. Today, the answer is WiMAX.

WiMAX is a wireless digital communications system designed to help people stay connected in any metropolitan area. This technology provides broadband wireless access by using two kinds of stations, like giant wireless routers, that allow people to pick up an Internet signal. The first station is known as a fixed station, and it can transmit a signal up to 30 miles away. The second station is called a mobile station and it can send a signal up to 10 miles away. Compare these incredible distances with the average home router, which requires that a person be within 300 feet, and you can clearly see how far wireless technology has come. Furthermore, the advantages of this amazing innovation are astounding. This technology ensures that never again will you have trouble finding a place to get online. Now, you can get connected and stay connected, anywhere.

4G Gives You Freedom

In today's fast-paced world, we are all busier than ever before. Fifty years ago, it was common to see families sitting around the dinner table, talking and laughing and enjoying home-cooked meals. Today, especially with the shaky economy, parents are required to work more hours, starting earlier and finishing later. They are lucky if they can get out of the office in time to be home for dinner. And when they arrive, they are happy to let the microwave prepare frozen dinners or call a restaurant that delivers. Kids today also have hectic schedules. One of the main reasons is that colleges are becoming more and more competitive. Extracurricular activities are more important now than they were just five years ago, and so students are encouraged to develop many hobbies from an early age. Between soccer practice, guitar lessons and school activities, kids never know when they will be home.

Luckily, technological advancements are always ready to help. These breakthroughs allow you to manage a heavier workload and find the time to be with your family. One of the very best innovations that can help you to save time and to make time is a new internet service that is popping up all over the place. This radical new form of service is called 4G.

You can only use them while sitting at your PC. 4G, however, is a radical technology that allows you to access the Internet from anywhere in the city. A subscription to this incredible new Internet service is an excellent solution for people who are always on the move. This technology allows you to break the chains that bind you to your computer in the office so that you can spend more time at home with your kids. Laptop Sleeve

Laptop computers are becoming more and more popular these days, and now are often the only type of computer used in a household. This is because at the same time that they are becoming more and more affordable, their computing power is growing to the point where they are as powerful as desktop computers from just a few years ago. Laptops are still not quite powerful enough to be a good choice if you often do tasks that require a lot of power, such as video editing. But for web surfing, word processing, and most other common computer work they are just fine, provided you do not mind the small screen size. Or, if you don't mind a VERY small screen and are mostly using the computer for email and internet surfing, you can save a lot of money and travel very light buy purchasing a Netbook computer for as little as $250 or even less. Many do not like to use what a laptop has in place of a mouse, but you can add on a mouse at minimal cost.

If you decide to buy a laptop, and you are going to be carrying it around as opposed to having it sit on a desk as a replacement for your old desktop, it is important that you buy some good protection for it. It is a good idea to buy both a hard case and a laptop sleeve, which may be thought of as a tight fitting envelope for your laptop, made out of plastic, neoprene, vinyl, or more exotic materials such as leather. Just a case for your laptop is not enough because with a case, a laptop, especially a powerful desktop-replacement model, is often heavier and less portable than you would like. A sleeve offers enough protection for most situations, without the bulk and weight of a case.

The price for good quality laptop sleeves ranges from around fifteen to fifty dollars. A good sleeve should be padded for added protection in case you drop it. This can happen more often than you might think; for example students often forget they have their computer in a backpack and then proceed to toss the backpack on the floor! You also need to consider whether you want the sleeve to include a handle or a shoulder strap. There is a vast selection of sleeves available online, so you should compare prices and styles by doing searches on internet search engines such as Google. Use several search terms, such as "sleeve for laptop" and "laptop notebook sleeve", to get the best results. First search for the size and style that fits your needs, and once you have narrowed your options down compare the prices. Remember that the size specification such as 17 inches refers to the diagonal measurement of your laptops screen. If you are not sure of the size look for sleeves designed specifically for your laptop model.

A neoprene laptop sleeve is a good choice because in addition to the protection it is especially lightweight and has a stylish look as if it were a wetsuit. Neoprene is also known as polychloroprene, and is a kind of synthetic rubber, invented by Dupont around 70 years ago. Belkin is one of the best brands for Neoprene sleeves in a variety of sizes and colors, although if you have a Macbook Pro, the fit may not be as snug as you would like. Microsoft also makes a good neoprene sleeve.

One good website to look for laptop sleeves of all different types is eBags. Their collection of sleeves includes the Designer Sleeves brand 17 inch Executive Laptop model, with handle and strap and available in a variety of colors and patterns, for about $48. A much slimmer neoprene model they have is the 17 inch SlipSuit by Mobile Edge, also available in several colors, for about $23.

For many laptop users, the appearance of the sleeve is at least as important as its function. For you "fashionistas" there is a great list of 50 stylish, unique sleeves at Hongkiat. For example there is the "My Documents" laptop sleeve, which looks like the "My Documents" icon on a PC. Or try the Italian leather sleeve that looks like one of those manila envelopes used to send mail from one department to another in a company. Another one looks like the front of a white shirt used for office wear, complete with tie and breast pocket. Other designs are more straightforward. Of course, most of these good-looking sleeves are quite a lot more expensive than the plainer, utilitarian ones.

If you are a bargain hunter as I am, consider getting a used laptop sleeve on eBay. If a seller has a lot of positive feedback and will accept returns, buying from eBay is safe, and the selection is large. Make sure to check the shipping cost (many eBay sellers make their money by charging too much for shipping), and the delivery time. Also make sure the picture is of the actual item rather than a stock photo, and carefully read the description of the sleeves condition. Signing up to be an eBay member is reasonably easy and free. Most of the time sellers will only accept PayPal payments, but signing up for PayPal is much easier than it used to be. Another place to get used sleeves is Craigslist, but the selection is much, much more limited.
